If you are reading this, you are already part of the circle of people who make Artifice possible. Our activities, gatherings, and experiments are built through the participation of artists, designers, technologists, and neighbors who believe that culture can be created with care. This publication exists to keep that conversation alive beyond any single event.

Artifice works with a simple understanding; technology shapes how we sense the world and how we relate to each other. We live in a post-digital environment where the distinction between physical and computational is less important than the emotional and ecological impact of these systems. The question we return to again and again is how to create meaning within this landscape…

LAB + STAGE

WHITEBOX is our material and spatial laboratory. It is where research becomes environment. It is where we explore form, material, and the sensory qualities of space.
BLACKBOX is our digital and performative space. It is where artists and collaborators engage with new media, stagework, and narrative experimentation.
Together these modes form a practice that is both grounded and speculative, both physical and conceptual.

Think Inside the Box will share what is emerging inside these containers. Here you will find reflections from artists, notes on works in progress, updates from our teams, research findings, and observations from the events and Chapters that bring our community together. You will also see writing that examines the broader cultural conditions we move through and the questions that shape our approach to production, curation, and institutional care.
